Now I need to play around with it, roll ideas around in my head for a bit.

Poke around the blog and, thanks for stopping by!Anokhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05675278947623136467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4342220819301909377.post-25319957245154706032007-11-09T20:36:00.000-05:002007-11-09T20:36:00.000-05:00You might want to compare your future scenario aga...You might want to compare your future scenario against the crowdsourced one: www.worldwithoutoil.org

I don't think we need a hurricane + terrorist strike to launch the kind of concatenating, reverberating shocks you describe. Oil is near $100 a barrel today, and why? Because the fabric of oil supply is stretched tight as a drum, and if it tears it will tear in a big way.nwgnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15664068448289562254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4342220819301909377.post-40844699789033267552007-11-09T11:02:00.000-05:002007-11-09T11:02:00.000-05:00About the Iran hostage situation, our government a...About the Iran hostage situation, our government and country most certainly did play a role in that whole mess - by allowing their dictator stay in the US, protected while Iranians wanted nothing less than his head. I don't think it was about the elections however, but rather playing with political fire or, if you will, appeasing the lesser of two evils. There was an op-ed piece in my local paper about that today, which I absolutely need to comment on tonight. So keep 'yer eyes peeled for that rant.

Otherwise I agree, we will reap what we sow. The sins of the father and all that.

As for the Reagan administration, I feel that really it wasn't just the republican party (as we are seeing, the parties really aren't all that bipartisan anyway, this is nothing new in my opinion).

Much like the golden age prior to the Great Depression, America got full of itself, got greedy, and went over the top. The lure of fast paced lives, faster cars, McMansions and expendable wealth had replaced the American dream, and we fell for it hook line and sinker. We the people, are honestly responsible. The country as a whole. Although understandable, again, Americans seem to have a hard time seeing beyond the five year plan, and judging the possible consequences of their actions.

The dream is more addictive than crack, and the consequences are uglier than the worst junkie you've ever seen.

Money really is the root of all evil.Anokhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05675278947623136467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4342220819301909377.post-57982158834409668742007-11-09T10:34:00.000-05:002007-11-09T10:34:00.000-05:00I am begining to think that we in America get what...I am begining to think that we in America get what we deserve.

When Jimmy Carter was President he put us on a path that would have drastically reduced our dependence on oil and moved us toward getting off oil altother. That was 30 years ago. Who knows where we would be today if only we had listened.

Now, there is some argument that Reagan stole the 1980 election by paying off the Iranians to hold the hostages until after the election, which sunk Carter.

One of Reagan's first orders of business was to rip the solar panels off the White Hosue that Carter had installed.

That said, We The People need to demand this change and take back our government. We need to control our own destiny. If we do not do that, then we are destined to fail and, I hate to say it but, will deserve the blame.

Future generations will look back and wonder how we could let it get this bad just as now I look back and wonder how those in 1980 allowed Reagan to take over not once but twice.

Reagan put us back on the path of war, the path of oil, and the path of unregulated, unfettered captalism. We had a brief reprive under Clinton but Bush has brought us right back to the brink.

We've known for decades that our dependence on oil is a problem. We've known for decades that pollution and green house gases are negatively affecting our environment.

Yet time and time again we are duped by Republicans who cry the blues about the precious profits of corporations being eroded if they aren't allowed to pollute and exploit oil.

It's almost timem to pay the piper.PoliShifterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16524480334048786423noreply@blogger.com
